چکیده

The patient was a 44-year-old asymptomatic man with a round nodule observed in the left lung on a chest X-ray (Picture A, arrow). Chest computed tomography revealed a well-circumscribed mass in the peripheral apico-posterior segment (Picture B). A gross examination of the partially resected lung revealed a 2.0×2.0×1.8 cm, well-demarcated, tan-colored, solid tumor (Picture C). Histopathologically, the tumor was composed of spindle cells arranged in fascicular or whorl fashion interspersed with collagens and psammomatous calcifications (Picture D). Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells exhibited immunoreactivity for vimentin, EMA, progesterone receptor, and claudin-1 (Picture D, in-

An incidental pulmonary meningioma revealing an intracranial meningioma: primary or secondary lesion?

A 68-year-old man underwent a resection of the right middle lobe for a solitary lesion detected at computed tomography. The histologic result was suggestive for a pulmonary meningioma. Although the result of a preoperative brain computed tomography scan was negative, magnetic resonance imaging showed a skull-base meningioma. On the basis of the absence of symptoms, we decided to observe the int...

Primary intraosseous meningioma: CT and MRI appearance.

Benign primary intraosseous meningioma presenting with osteolytic skull lesion and soft-tissue component is rare. CT and MR imaging of a patient with frontoparietal scalp swelling showed an osteolytic intracalvarial lesion with an extradural soft-tissue component. Following wide surgical resection, the histological examination revealed an intraosseous chordoid meningioma. The clinical and radio...

Circumscribed intrapulmonary hematoma presenting as a coin lesion.

In recent years the problem of solitary circumscribed pulmonary nodules has attracted much attention in the medical literature. The difficulties involved in establishing an accurate diagnosis in cases of this kind are well recognized and are usually resolved by resort to exploratory thoracotomy and excision of the lesion. That this approach to the problem is rational and well founded is amply s...

Primary Malignant Cerebellopontine Angle Melanoma Presenting as a Presumed Meningioma: Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Primary intracranial melanomas are rare, especially in the primary cerebellopontine angle. We describe a patient with a presumed jugular foramen meningioma that was found to be of melanotic origin at surgery. We followed this 26-year-old woman with mild ataxia with serial imaging for 18 months after the initial discovery of a cerebellopontine angle extra-axial mass. She developed worsening symp...

Aneurysm of a pulmonary artery branch: an uncommon cause of a coin lesion.

We report the case of a 26-year-old woman with ventricular septal defect associated with a typical coin lesion as shown on the chest roentgenogram. Selective angiography revealed the coin lesion to be caused by an aneurysm of a tertiary pulmonary arterial branch. In addition, two smaller aneurysms were noted. It is postulated on clinical and histologic grounds that the aneurysms were caused by ...
